Masters of War
Lyrics by Bob Dylan
Come you masters of war
You that build the big guns
You that build the death planes
You that build all the bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks
You that never done nothin’
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it’s your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly
Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain
You fasten all the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you sit back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
While the young people’s blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud
You’ve thrown the worst fearThat can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain’t worth the blood
That runs in your veins
How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I’m young
You might say I’m unlearned
But there’s one thing I know
Though I’m younger than you
That even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do
Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good?
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could?
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul
And I hope that you die
And your death will come soon
I’ll follow your casket
By the pale afternoon
And I’ll watch while you’re lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I’ll stand over your grave
‘Til I’m sure that you’re dead
1963, on the album Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan

Join your fellow Indivisible Helena resisters at our Thursday, April 16th Membership Meeting at the Helena Indian Alliance gymnasium. The spacious room has a good sound system, soft chairs, terrific lighting, great room ventilation. It may initially have some echo issues, but the staff intends to purchase additional sound panels to address. And, there is a large parking lot and ample street parking for overflow. The gym is ADA compliant. The only downside is that it will mean paying for the room, and we will address this at the meeting.
Agenda
- 3-Minute Video from Leah and Ezra, co-founders of Indivisible
- Celebrate No Kings 3!
- Information about where our donations to IH go
- Discuss the strategy of May Day Strong and actions for Helena-area community
- Evaluate the meeting space
- Meet each other! Have a treat!
We will have light refreshments, time to mingle and talk. And as always, we urge you to bring family, friends, neighbors, fellow workers and those you don’t know so well: we need to grow the resistance movement. It will take all of us to restore, repair and improve our democracy.

Member Spotlight
Jim
Jim, about how long have you been volunteering with Indivisible Helena?
6 months
Is this your first time volunteering as an Activist?
Yes
What are two or three things about this work you enjoy the most?
Being with like-minded people, and a sense of helping the nation.
How does expressing your activism through Indivisible Helena make a difference in your life?
Before I became active inIndivisibleHelena, it felt as if there was a hole in my life, and this group has helped to fill it.
What would you say to members who might be hesitant to enter the world of activist volunteerism with Indivisible Helena?
If you are anything like I was, you may feel a bit helpless in the current political situation. Believe me, you are not. Joining this group is a tremendous way to help improve our country. We need you. It’s going to take a whole bunch of us to make a difference. I cannot emphasize this point enough—we NEED YOU!!!!!
Anything else?
One of the important lessons I have learned as a participant is how valuable every member’s input is. The wonderful ideas that folks come up with in group discussions, I could never think of alone.

“After tragedies, one has to invent a new world, knit it or embroider, make it up. It’s not gonna be given to you because you deserve it; it doesn’t work that way. You have to imagine something that doesn’t exist and dig a cave into the future and demand space. It’s a territorial hope affair. At the time, that digging is utopian, but in the future, it will become your reality.” — Björk

Rebecca Solnit
Flowers Bloom on Soldiers’ Graves: Lessons in Power and Consequence
Substack: Meditations in an Emergency
April 12, 2026
When people hear talk of gaining power, they often get nervous that it means force or domination. But in this meditation, Rebecca Solnit argues that real power often looks more like solidarity, care, and loving your neighbor — the same qualities that helped Minneapolis residents stand together against federal intimidation.
This is a long piece that’s worth reading slowly. Solnit draws on botanist David George Haskell to explore a kind of power that’s often overlooked: change built through cooperation, collaboration, and even beauty. It’s a thoughtful essay that may leave you with a whole new appreciation for the phrase “flower power.”

Audrey Henson
Video: Why Iran’s Blockade is an Oracle Story
Substack: The Drey Dossier
April 13, 2026
From The Drey Dossier — where Audrey Henson investigates the intersection of power, tech, and politics — comes a sharp look at the role Larry Ellison and Oracle may be playing behind the scenes in the Middle East.
Henson digs into Oracle’s ties to Israeli military systems, a proposed “Board of Peace,” and reconstruction contracts in Gaza and Lebanon, arguing that what appears to be a string of separate crises may instead reflect a coordinated pattern of influence, infrastructure control, and profit.
She also provides an extensive list of primary source documents and reporting to support her case. Whether or not you agree with every conclusion, it’s a gripping example of how she connects people, money, contracts, and geopolitics into a larger narrative.

This Week’s To-Do List
Make Good Trouble in Helena!
1. CONTINUE CALLING OUR FEDERAL DELEGATION
Senator Steve Daines: (202) 224-2651
Senator Tim Sheehy: (202) 224-2644
Representative Ryan Zinke: (202) 225-5628
Representative Troy Downing: (202) 225-3211
Some of us have despaired of making an iota of impact on our Montana “non-representatives” and have given up on calling or emailing the scoundrels. DON’T give up! Remember the drops of water that ultimately crack the granite boulder lead to the fall of the rock. Or as someone reminded us, it takes a lot of drops of blue water to make a blue wave.
We are back to reminding the delegation that our eyes are on them and that we will never forget that they sided with the fascists against their Montana constituents: they will be turned out of office, maybe sooner, maybe later, but banished they will be. Take heart! And dial way!
And to make it a bit easier, here is link to the 5 Calls app:
END THE WAR NOW!

2. MAY DAY: DAY OF ECONOMIC DISRUPTION
After the Membership Meeting this Thursday, after we hear from members, we’ll be planning our day of action — and in next week’s newsletter, you’ll get all the info on how to participate. Stay tuned!

let’s do this. let’s stay angry, and stay invigorated — because if Hungary can get rid of their fascists, we can get rid of ours.
fascism wants you demoralized. fascism wants you to give up. that’s how fascism wins.
well, fuck that shit — and fuck it hard.
see you at the polls this November.
