Rapid Response Call to Action

Monday, Sept. 14th at 6:00 p.m

CITY-COUNTY BUILDING

At the Monday, September 14th City Commission meeting, the commissioners will very likely vote to accept or decline a grant from the Department of Homeland Security. The ramifications are disturbing. Here is a brief synopsis and a link for your own research:

1. By accepting the grant, the City obligates staff, law enforcement, and the jail to comply with Department of Homeland Security, ICE, and Border Patrol requests for information and cooperation in joint operations, and to use the jail for “detainees.” We cannot find any wording in the document regarding reimbursement for this.

2. We invite you to read it yourself; follow the link below. The Grant is for $53,326 to cover security surveillance cameras in the City County, Law and Justice Center buildings, as well as the Municipal Court area inside the LJC. The fiscal note does not mention possible compliance-related costs. Research suggests many municipalities in the country are suing DHS for detainees held in their jails.

Attend the meeting either in person or on Zoom and send your feedback.

Honk and Wave

Every Saturday, 12-1pm

CORNER OF MONTANA AND 11TH AVENUES

In true Montana fashion, keep on honking, keep on waving, and keep on standing tall – except if the temps drop below 10 degrees F or below – especially if there is wind chill.
