Did you miss out on getting a NO KINGS sign in June? Good news — we’ve printed more! Thanks to your support, Indivisible Helena has a new batch of two-sided yard signs and window signs (one-sided, 20” x 16”).

If you or your friends would like one, email indivisiblehelena@gmail.com with your name, street address, and cell number. We want to see NO KINGS signs across the Helena area. We’re thrilled so many people have kept their signs up since the rally — that was the point. Until our democracy is safe, keep them up. Get yours now!

Indivisible Helena is completely volunteer-driven. Your donation will support the direct costs of our activism—things like meeting room rental, website creation and maintenance, posters, art supplies, transportation, and MORE yard signs!

Together, We’re the Power
They Fear the Most

When we say NO together, they have to listen.

NO KINGS is how we the people reject the Trump administration’s destruction of our government and democracy. This time, our NO must be louder and clearer —with many more voices joining in.

Bring your friends, family, coworkers, and even strangers to the Capitol. Add your voice to the resounding NO we’ll send to would-be autocrats threatening our Constitution, our shared ideals, and our right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.

Volunteers Needed

We need volunteers for the No Kings II rally, which promises to be the largest resistance rally to date. We want to be sure our gathering is a safe, secure, non-violent, and FUN event. Please help IH by volunteering for one of these roles.

  1. Crowd Support — Garbed in yellow vests, these volunteers will greet and direct rally-goers. We received feedback  after the June 14th rally that this is a FUN position, and volunteers felt appreciated by the crowd.

This position requires a 1.25 hour training on the Capitol Grounds on Thursday, October 16, 4 to 5:15 pm. Training will cover greeting and directing attendees, de-escalation, violence prevention, and appropriate use of first responders. This is not taxing or strenuous, but does require volunteers to be on their feet for a couple of hours. Be assured we are coordinating with the Helena Police, County Sheriff, Montana Highway Patrol, and Capitol Security.
  2. Signature Gatherers  We need LOTS of volunteers willing to carry clipboards and gather participant signatures during our call to action. You will be on your feet for a couple of hours. No training is required.

Let us if you are interested in volunteering in either of these roles:

Stand Up. Stand Together. Sign On.

Indivisible Helena heard from past rally participants who want a clear CALL TO ACTION — something they can do to send a message they won’t put up with the tragedy that is the Trump regime. At No Kings II, IH will do just that, launching a citizens’ petition that demands our congressional delegation and Governor Gianforte publicly affirm they will protect our constitutional rights and principles of democracy.

We don’t want to give it all away here, but the call to action at No Kings II will be loud and clear — one we think Indivisibles, and most Montanans for that matter, will want to sign on to.

The rally will kick off a month-long campaign to gather thousands of signatures and deliver this message in person to those officials. We’ll need everyone’s help gathering signatures.

And that’s not all …

IH is thrilled to welcome back high-energy band Big Ska Country. The SKA genre has its roots in Jamaican protests against the treatment of Black citizens. The black-and-white checked flags that often accompany SKA bands symbolize the welcome of people of all colors to play music together and celebrate community. This band knows how to deliver a protest message and will do just that with songs including the well-known “RISE UP,” written by bandleader Scott Williams. Music starts at 11:30.

Stand Together

Helena Food Share will collect non-perishable food at their table behind the Thomas Meagher statue, sharing space with other partners. Stand up for our community friends — bring some grub.

Note: A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.

Common Ground in Coal Country
Bernie’s Words Resonate Among Trump Voters

As Democrats stand firm (all but three) in defending Americans’ less-than-adequate healthcare subsidies, the man who’s always advocated for Medicare for All, Bernie Sanders, visits West Virginia and makes friends of Trump voters who are suffering under Trump’s policies and know it’s only going to get worse if Dems cave and the massive cuts go into effect.

This Week’s National To-Do List
as Recommended by
Indivisibles Parent Organization

How do we stop the Trump shutdown?

This week National Indivisible sent out this list of what they recommend we do to stop the Trump shutdown. Here is an edited version of Leah and Ezra’s “What’s the Plan?” for this week.

Republicans are responsible for this shutdown and must be held accountable for ending it. They won’t budge if they think Dems will cave and agree to co-sign their MAGA budget. So we need to call Congress and get out there in our communities to demand Republicans end the shutdown and to urge Democrats to hold the line.

Here’s what we need everyone to do and what you can expect in the coming days:

  • Call your Members of Congress and take action in your community: Use our Stop the Trump Shutdown toolkit to call your Members of Congress (MoCs) and plan or attend an in-person event holding Republicans accountable for ending the shutdown and urging Dems to keep fighting for healthcare. We don’t how long the shutdown will last, so we need to make as much noise as possible ASAP!
  • Remember, Clear Messaging is Essential: Our message must be unified and sharp. We don’t want a shutdown. We are opposing any budget deal that continues Republicans’ healthcare cuts and jacks up healthcare prices.
  • Stay Tuned for Rapid Response: House Republicans announced  they’re keeping the chamber in recess next week to stop them from voting on a deal to protect healthcare and end the shutdown. We need all hands on deck to ensure Senate Dems don’t cave. Expect urgent, rapid response communication from us as the fight continues.
