Protect Our Community
from ICE and DHS
Show Resolution Support and
Urge Commissioners to Do the Right Thing

Please plan on attending the Helena City Commission meeting at 6 pm on Monday, Jan 26, to express your support for the resolution preventing Helena from entering into a 287(g) agreement with ICE, and to support amendments to the resolution that will be introduced by Commissioner Reed. If you can’t attend, then please take a few minutes to send a note to commissioners.
Commissioner Reed’s amendments intend to:
- Make racial profiling data collected publicly available on the City’s website;
- Make requests for federal immigration agents to unmask more clear and less discretionary; and
- Collect and make available all contacts with federal immigration enforcement.
Public comments will be allowed. If you cannot attend in person, please send your comments stating that you would like to see the amendments adopted to the resolution.

Heather Delaney Reese
Is This Finally America’s Breaking Point?
Substack
January 24, 2026
Reese recounts a terrifying moment shaped by her child’s active-shooter training and uses it to argue that fear, violence, and intimidation now define American life under authoritarian drift, culminating in the killing of a U.S. citizen during a federal raid in Minneapolis. Drawing on historical warnings from Nazi Germany and the present-day actions of Donald Trump’s administration, she contends that silence will not protect anyone and urges collective, immediate resistance before democratic collapse becomes irreversible.

America Feels Like a Country on the Brink of an Authoritarian Takeover
January 25, 2026
Prose argues that constant media distractions mask a single, urgent reality: an accelerating authoritarian crackdown marked by federal violence in Minneapolis, including the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, which demands sustained public focus and action. She urges Americans to resist diversion, warning that without collective, nonviolent disruption and solidarity, the repression advanced by figures like Donald Trump and Stephen Miller will continue to spread unchecked.

This Week’s To-Do List
Make Good Trouble in Helena!
1. PRIORITY: BOYCOTT TARGET
On January 8, Customs and Border Protection agents attacked and detained two US citizens who were employees at the Richfield, MN, Target. We’ve seen the video of a Latino teenaged employee of a Target store in Minneapolis being dragged out of the store by ICE officers, shouting to his co-workers to call his mom.
Target is headquartered in Minneapolis and is Minnesota’s fourth largest employer. They should be standing with the people of Minnesota and speaking out against ICE’s invasion of the state instead of giving them bathroom privileges and allowing them to abduct their employees.
It’s hard to give up shopping at the closest thing we have to a department store — we understand, we get it. But there are work-arounds:
- cleaning supplies and household items at Ace Hardware/Rock Hand, Power Townsend, or the Restore
- socks at Murdocks
- bedding and towels online (NOT through Amazon)
- health and beauty products at supermarkets, CVS, or Walgreens
- clothes at Costco, thrift stores, or consignment shops
Shop at small local stores whenever possible. And, really think whether you need a new bathroom throw rug or prepared food from Target.
Consumer boycotts are effective! Sacrifice for our community, our democracy. Don’t support corporate compliance with the fascist regime.
