Did you miss out on getting a NO KINGS sign in June? Good news — we’ve printed more! Thanks to your support, Indivisible Helena has a new batch of two-sided yard signs and window signs (one-sided, 20” x 16”).

If you or your friends would like one, email indivisiblehelena@gmail.com with your name, street address, and cell number. We want to see NO KINGS signs across the Helena area. We’re thrilled so many people have kept their signs up since the rally — that was the point. Until our democracy is safe, keep them up. Get yours now!

Indivisible Helena is completely volunteer-driven. Your donation will support the direct costs of our activism—things like meeting room rental, website creation and maintenance, posters, art supplies, transportation, and MORE yard signs!

We’re Not Backing Down — See You at the Capitol Saturday

OCTOBER 14, 2025

Volunteers Needed for Helena’s No Kings Rally

We need volunteers for the No Kings rally this Saturday, October 18, at the Capitol Flag Plaza. It promises to be the largest resistance rally to date. We want to be sure our gathering is a safe, secure, non-violent, and FUN event. Please help IH by volunteering for one of these roles.

  1. Signature Gatherers  We need LOTS of volunteers willing to carry clipboards and gather participant signatures on the Petition to Protect, which demands our congressional delegation and Governor Gianforte protect everyone’s constitutional rights and principles of democracy. You will be on your feet for a couple of hours. No training is required.
  2. Crowd Support — Garbed in yellow vests, these volunteers will greet and direct rally-goers. We received feedback  after the June 14th rally that this is a FUN position, and volunteers felt appreciated by the crowd.

Our goal is to have a safe, peaceful, and fun rally, so IH will require a 1.25 hour training for Crowd-Support volunteers on the Capitol Grounds on Thursday, October 16, 4 to 5:15 pm. Training will cover greeting and directing attendees, de-escalation, violence prevention, and appropriate use of first responders. This is not taxing or strenuous, but does require volunteers to be on their feet for a couple of hours. Be assured we are coordinating with the Helena Police, County Sheriff, Montana Highway Patrol, and Capitol Security.

Let us know if you are interested in volunteering in either of these roles:

We’re Not Backing Down

We’ll see you at the Capitol on Saturday!

“We’re not backing down. We’ll see you in the streets on Oct 18th!”
— Ezra Levin and Leah Greenberg, co-founders and co-directors of the
national Indivisible

As the Trump regime escalates its attacks on Americans for peaceful and lawful activities that challenge Trump’s power, we all need to take yet another stand to say “No Kings!” Solidarity is a verb.

“This is exactly the moment for people to stand up,” said Illinois Governor JB Pritzker on Tuesday as national guardsmen from Texas awaited deployment in Chicago.  It has been proven time and again that, when Americans stand up to Trump, he becomes visibly weaker.

More than 2,500 No Kings events nationwide are now scheduled for October 18th, including one on the National Mall in DC, one in Helena, and in 25 communities across Montana from Eureka to Miles City.

No Kings promises to be the largest demonstration in United States history. “We have friends everywhere,” as the Indivisible saying goes, so be sure to bring them all on Saturday the 18th.

In Helena, friends at Waking Giant are organizing a March to the No Kings Rally, beginning at 10:30 am at the corner of 11th and Fee St. (former Albertson’s parking lot).  Please see details in the Solidarity Calendar.

Note: A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.

First Statewide Indivisible Meeting

Two Indivisible Helena members attended a meeting in Bozeman October 3 and 4 to get acquainted with members of other Indivisible groups in Montana and learn the basics of building an effective statewide structure. To our knowledge, this was the first statewide, in-person gathering of Montana Indivisibles. Of the 18 (and counting) chapters statewide, roughly half were represented.

The weekend began with an informal reception Friday in the home of two Bozeman members. The following day, the group moved into an all-day training session, led by a regional Indivisible organizer at a downtown hotel. We spent the better part of the day building skills around one-on-one persuasion, deep canvassing, and discussing the importance of reaching out to swing voters and “persuadables.”

Beyond the basics of leadership development and membership recruitment and retention, we thoroughly enjoyed getting acquainted with the dedicated Indivisibles who traveled across the state to be together.  Attendees traded many good ideas.

The creativity of our members abounds! From original artwork emblazoned on signs, posters, and T-shirts to inscribed spinal vertebrae addressed to Senator Daines — we were inspired.

As we become better organized, we’re hoping these items will be made available to members statewide.

We shared with the group the Petition to Protect that Indivisible Helena will launch at the No Kings II Rally (described above). We’re hoping for thousands of signatures statewide!

We are working with others in attendance to develop an efficient way to communicate with one another to keep all chapters informed of what others are doing. It’s a big job, especially in a rural, sparsely-populated state like Montana. We’ll just keep building, one step at a time. Our time in Bozeman was a great start!
