Hello Again Indivisibles!
While the May Day actions of Indivisible groups around the country drew hundreds of thousands of protesters in more than 1,100 American communities to celebrate International Workers’ Day and oppose MGAG’s attack on working class Americans (including in Helena on two different days!), we can’t let up on the pressure the American public can put on the Trump administration to stop destroying our country’s unrealized promise of freedom and liberty for everyone, regardless of the circumstance of their birth or life.
To leverage that public pressure, and set Trump’s low approval ratings in concrete overshoes, Indivisible, in partnership with an even larger coalition of national organizations, is calling for NO KINGS DAY actions in every American community this Flag Day on Saturday, June 14th. Not only is this day Flag Day, this year it’s also the 250th anniversary of the founding of the US Army (the Continental Army, as it was called then, was established as a unified army for the colonies TO END THE RULE OF A KING). The US Army has long planned a commemorative event in Washington, DC, but in true fashion, Trump is misappropriating that military parade to celebrate his 79th birthday! In his true dictatorial “I don’t know” way, it’s ALWAYS about him!
Since the American Revolution, we don’t put up with would-be kings. NO KINGS DAY is a national day of action and mass mobilization in response to increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption from Trump and his allies. We’ve watched as they’ve cracked down on free speech, detained people for their political views, threatened to deport American citizens, and defied the courts. They’ve done this all while continuing to serve and enrich the billionaire bosses. This will be the largest national mobilization against Trump since Hands Off! on April 5!
The flag doesn’t belong to Donald Trump. It belongs to us. But we’re not watching history happen, we’re making it. On June 14th, we’re showing up everywhere Trump isn’t—to say no thrones, no crowns, no kings.

Take Action This Week!
1. May 6 is Election Day in Helena
We recently promoted two packed events hosted by the League of Women Voters about the school board elections. One event was about the 6 candidates on the ballot (including two incumbents) while the other was about levy issues asking voters to fund improvements to the services that the district provides to our young people.
If you are a registered voter, mail ballots should have been delivered to your mailbox a couple of weeks ago. If you have not returned your ballot, submit your absentee/mail ballot by 8pm on Election Day or visit your polling place by 8pm on Election Day. Postmarks are not accepted on absentee/mail ballots; your ballot must be received by 8pm on Election Day!
Remember: democracy works only when you participate with your vote!
NOTE: Congress sent only 5 bills to Trump for his signature in his first 100 days. But the really destructive bills are still being debated! Our next two actions are repeats because the issues involved are still on the legislative calendar, and likely will be for some time to come. Maybe you have already taken action. Great, but you can contact your reps again as they need constant pressure. More importantly, get a few of your friends to do the same. Just because our representatives ignore public opinion (Trump is way underwater!), doesn’t mean that we should not stop yelling at them to represent ALL OF US, not just their billionaire buddies!
2. Don’t Let the fascists disenfranchise America Voters: Contact Daines and Sheehy This Week!
The SAVE Act—the Safeguard or “Shitcan” American Voter Eligibility Act—has passed the US House of Representatives and sent to the Senate, where it will be voted on soon, now that Congress is back in session. This bill would require every voter to show proof of citizenship, like a passport or original birth certificate, when registering to vote or updating voter information.
Because the bill would require this proof in person, it would eliminate online and mail-in voter registration. This bill wouldn’t improve election security—it would make it significantly harder for many everyday Americans to vote. It is an attempt to eliminate the voting rights of qualified American voters.
It would disproportionately impact:
- Married women (about 84% of American women) who have changed their last names, many of whom don’t have birth certificates matching their legal name.
- Trans and nonbinary people who’ve changed their names to reflect their gender identity.
- Naturalized citizens could face additional barriers and intimidation.
- Military members, tribal citizens, and working-class Americans, who may not have easy access to these documents.

3. Tell Senators Daines, Sheehy, and Representative Downing you do NOT want to pay for the billionaires’ tax breaks!
The Senate is set to ram through the Trump Tax Scam that sells out Americans to give the ultra-wealthy trillions of dollars in tax breaks, leaving the rest of us to foot the bill. They plan on slashing Medicaid, SNAP, Head Start, and much more.
Contact Daines, Sheehy, and Downing today to tell them you are horrified that they would withdraw medical care and take food from Montanans’ tables in order to give huge tax breaks to the billionaires. Stand up for everyday Americans, elected representatives! Or you’ll be looking for new jobs! Vote NO! On the Trump Tax Scam!

Another Great Read for the Week
That fact that Trump nominated (and all Republican Senators except polio-survivor McConnell voted to confirm) Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. as the Secretary of Health and Human Services (with no votes from Senate Democrats!) is one of the more dangerous developments in the last 100 days. MAHA (Make America Healthy Again) is Kennedy’s campaign to eviscerate any federal role in applying sound science and public health practice to ensuring that Americans, now and in the future, lead the most healthy lives possible. But that legacy mission runs counter to RFK, Jr.’s long-held conspiracy theories that the federal government is actually trying to kill “deserving” populations, namely rich while males. Under current administration policy (not yet law), the life expectance of the vast majority of all humans (primarily Americans) is actively being lowered.
Eugenics have long been the hallmark of authoritarian regimes, with a well-documented history of crimes agains humanity. Recognizing this, RFK, Jr. is now leading a movement for “soft eugenics,” sanding off the rough edges of a horrid past to renew their long-game movement to privilege certain people by eliminating others. He and his acolytes hope that you will not notice because the effects of his policy, once baked into federal policy, will not be as visible as a gas chamber. “Soft eugenics” are explored in depth in this week’s must read: Maga’s era of ’soft eugenics’: let the weak get sick, help the clever breed. Northing less than the long-term health of you and everyone you care for is at stake.
