Indivisible Calls for Boycott of Streaming Service Spotify. Here’s why.
Spotify is running ads recruiting agents for ICE, the federal agency charged with mass deportation and surveillance of immigrant communities. These ads target vulnerable populations, promise signing bonuses, and normalize fear and intimidation in our neighborhoods.
We refuse to fund it. We refuse to ignore it.
Our Demands of Spotify
Until our demands are met, we will withhold our subscriptions and our support. We are calling on Spotify founder and current CEO Daniel Ek, as well as Gustav Söderström and Alex Norström, who will become the new co-CEOs starting in January 2026, to:
- Immediately terminate all ICE and DHS advertising contracts with Spotify;
- Update its Advertising Policy to prohibit government propaganda and hate-based recruitment campaigns; and
- Commit to defending civil rights and standing up for communities under threat from authoritarian actions.
What You Can Do
We are asking every listener and artist to take these key actions:
- Cancel your Spotify subscription, TODAY until the ICE ads are removed.
- Stop streaming content on Spotify until ICE ads are removed.
Alternative music streaming services
Tidal: tidal.com
Artist-owned, transparent royalty model, and no record of hosting ICE or DHS recruitment campaigns. Here’s how to transfer your music and playlists from Spotify.
Qobuz: qobuz.com
Paid service with a free, built-in playlist app. Audio superior and pays artists well.
Apple Music: music.apple.com
Operates under strict ad-placement standards and does not run third-party government recruitment ads. Here’s how to transfer your music and playlists from Spotify.
Deezer: deezer.com/us
A French online music streaming service, similar to Spotify or Apple Music, that offers access to millions of songs, podcasts, and radio stations, operating on a freemium model, with a free tier that includes ads and limitations.
Disclaimer: Indivisible is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in a corporate partnership with Tidal, Apple Music, or any other streaming platform. We are recommending these services solely as alternatives that, to our knowledge, do not air ICE recruitment ads.

AND … Another Boycott.
Another Action Against a Billionaire.

No Contract Means No Coffee as Starbucks Baristas Walk Out
Starbucks workers across the U.S. are striking against unfair labor practices, workplace conditions, and stalled contract negotiations, starting on their busiest day of the year. The union, Starbucks Workers United, is urging a nationwide boycott of all Starbucks stores during the strike, to push for better wages, hours, and workplace safety.
Despite record profits and millions spent on store refurbishments, employees face low pay, inconsistent hours, unsafe conditions, and the company’s union-busting tactics. The strike aims to be the largest in Starbucks history, highlighting ongoing struggles for fair treatment.
“Chanting “What’s outrageous? Starbucks wages! What’s appalling? Starbucks stalling! What’s disgusting? Union busting!” Starbucks workers at stores across the country walked out Thursday. They are on strike against unfair labor practices and the company’s stonewalling at the bargaining table.”

Sunday thought: Progress
“We won’t be discouraged by tactical defeats, such as this past week’s. We’ll keep fighting … We’ll keep fighting because the stakes are so high. We’ll keep fighting because future generations depend on us.”
