Did you miss out on getting a NO KINGS sign in June? Good news — we’ve printed more! Thanks to your support, Indivisible Helena has a new batch of two-sided yard signs and window signs (one-sided, 20” x 16”).

If you or your friends would like one, email indivisiblehelena@gmail.com with your name, street address, and cell number. We want to see NO KINGS signs across the Helena area. We’re thrilled so many people have kept their signs up since the rally — that was the point. Until our democracy is safe, keep them up. Get yours now!

Indivisible Helena is completely volunteer-driven. Your donation will support the direct costs of our activism—things like meeting room rental, website creation and maintenance, posters, art supplies, transportation, and MORE yard signs!

Getting Ready for No Kings Day

June 8, 2025

Hey there Indivisibles,

As we prepare for No Kings Day next weekend, we first have work through this one:

More than ever, it is critical that we come together to show we will not submit to Trump’s fear tactics. He can roll tanks through DC, he can deploy the military to LA, but we can mobilize millions in large cities and small towns from sea to shining sea, to push back, to say “No Kings in America!”

Indivisible Helena stands in solidarity with the peaceful protestors in Paramount, CA, as they seek to protect the Constitutional rights of their friends and neighbors.🌹#NoKings #WeStandwithLA

Help Us Get Ready for No Kings Day

1. Paint and/or Place Yard Signs (All Week)

We wrote to you last week about a special project to produce and place No Kings yard signs in neighborhoods throughout the Helena area. This weekend, we’re glad to report that many of the yards signs are painted and a few have even been placed. But the yard sign team needs your help to get all 230 of them out into the community, the earlier the better.

Final production of the yard signs (hand painting—no experience needed, and it’s fun!) will take place Monday and Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. Even if you do not paint signs but want to place them in your neighborhoods, pick up will be every evening this week (except Friday) at the same times. If you can’t make these times for pickup, email us at indivisiblehelena@gmail.com and we’ll endeavor to meet you halfway!

All painting and pickup takes place at the Livestock Building, 2 North Last Chance Gulch (it’s the building across the street from the Base Camp with the Women’s Mural). Enter via the north door, go downstairs, and turn right.

Meet new people, and work short shifts! Every act of resistance is needed and really adds up! We promise you’ll feel a real sense of accomplishment and pride when you and your friends see all those No Kings yard signs across Helena!

2. Rally Assistants Training (June 12)

As you can image for a rally this large, lots of volunteers are need to make it run smoothly and safely. Indivisible Helena will offer training to volunteers on managing crowd support and interactions, with an emphasis on de-escalation. As an added bonus, trainees will be issued a special green vest so that anyone can easily find assistance if needed.

Join us at the site of the rally, Flag Plaza on the 6th Street side of the Capitol, from 6:00 to 7:15 pm on Thursday, June 12 to be trained on crowd support. Because we are anticipating a big crowd, your assistance to make this peaceful rally safe for everyone will be greatly appreciated.

3. Poster Making Party (June 12)

A poster making party for high school ralliers will be held on Thursday, June 12, anytime between 5:00 and 8:00, to design your posters for No Kings! Materials and PIZZA will be provided. If you know teens, children, grandchildren, and friends who might be interested, please direct them to 1001 Peosta Ave (corner of Peosta and Lincoln, the green house). It’ll be a fun party to prepare for the big rally. RSVP here. See you there!

4. No Kings Sign Making (June 13)

For the April 5th Hands Off rally, Waking Giant organized a very successful sign-making party at Brother’s Tapworks. It was so successful, with almost 40 people participating, they are hosting another!

Join us at Brother’s Tapworks (40 South Last Chance Gulch) starting at 6 pm on Friday, June 13. We’ll make signs Bring your creative spirit! We will have art supplies and poster board, but if you have some to share great! Bring a few friends and share a brew or two while you support a good cause.

5. Flyer your neighborhood and/or workplace for No Kings Day (All Week)

Next weekend at the Governors Cup and the Farmer’s Market, we will be distributing half-page handbills about No Kings Day.

If you want to let your neighbors or co-workers know about the No Kings Rally, we can print handbills that you can use to engage anyone. Just let us know ASAP how many you need by emailing indivisiblehelena@gmail.com and we will tell when and where to pick them up. We will take care of printing as long as you take care of distribution.

No Kings June 14 Mobilize

Did you see the full page “No Kings June 14 Mobilize” ad in yesterday’s Independent Record, purchased by Christy Walton? What a way to start the weekend! We thank Ms. Walton for using her wealth to help publicize our rally, and probably many others across the country.

The ad and its sponsor help us focus on what the rally is about. It’s not so much that the rich have so much money (though being a billionaire is obscene) but how they got it and how they spend it. Contrary to what so much of the “we’re better than you and that’s how we got so rich” crowd would have you believe, most really rich people, like Donald Trump, did not earn their wealth: they inherited it. As for how they spend it, most billionaires (like Elon Musk, who did not leave the administration, he was just finished stealing government data about us) now use an ever larger portion of their vast wealth to protect obscene wealth by buying elected officials and lobbyists that work to perpetuate their unlimited greed. In effect they’re also saying, “we rule you because we are better (richer) than you.”

Extreme income and wealth inequality is fundamentally incompatible with a democratic society. That is why Indivisible exists, and why we are standing up to Trump on No Kings Day

The Good Read (and Views): Heather Cox Richardson

Heather has been writing about current events in historical context daily for several years. You may have seen her speak to a packed room at Brother’s Tapworks last summer. Today, as she often does, Heather writes about another historical anniversary, and the Trump administration’s concerted efforts to erase our history (or in this case mistake the anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day by Trump’s Secretary of the Navy who missed it by 6 months!).

“Those that cannot remember the past accurately are condemned to repeat its worst moments.” This is how she introduces her new video series, debuting today, called Journey to American Democracy. In ten 2-minute clips, called “Ten Steps to Revolution,” Heather puts this Flag Day, the 250th anniversary of the founding of the Continental Army to fight the Revolutionary War, in context. Enjoy the series on YouTube.

Be Prepared to Have Fun (at the expense of a would-be king)!

Come early to the No Kings Rally and get energized by the protest music of dance band Big SKA Country, performing live! The show begins at 11:30 am. After the speakers, we’ll send you off to the music of the Jazz Allstars featuring Wilbur Rehmann, Shaun Deola, and MJ Williams.

A special shout-out to the No Kings Rally co-hosts: the Montana Federation of Public EmployeesBig Sky 55+CatalystACLU of Montana, the Montana Environmental Information CenterHARRTHands on Global, and Friends of the Third Branch. Be sure tovisit the information tables of our co-hosts and other local organizations.

Bring a hat, a bottle of water, a protest sign, and if you have one an American flag (we’re celebrating Flag Day our own way). Most of all, bring your family and friends!

Free Speech Bonus!

From the hilariously profane Jeff Tiedrich, here’s your hero of the week: Patricia Eguino, who used both a bullhorn and an air-horn to disrupt an attempted press conference by Proud Boy Enrique Tarrio (click here).

Spread the good news!

Do you have friends, neighbors, and family who want to join Indivisible’s resistance to the Trump administration in Helena? Of course you do! Here’s how:

1. Forward this email to them; and

2. Ask them to register for the No Kings rally, whether they can attend or not (of course, we hope you bring them along). When they register, they’ll receive this newsletter. Registration is easy. We will never share or sell their personal information with anyone.

If we are going to save the America we love, home of freedom and democracy for 250 years, it’s up to all of us to get off the bench and into the game.

That’s all for this week, except to tell you that we’ll be in touch again this Thursday with a special edition with final details as you get ready to rally at No Kings Day. Until then,

Solidarity 🌹
